Summer 2023 Garden
The summer of 2023 showcased a pretty decent garden, the addition of a mini greenhouse, and even the early stages of a solar-powered automatic plant watering system (that I have since taken apart; maybe more on this next year). The growing season overall was worse than last year (see my Summer 2022 Garden), which was already pretty bad!
As a disclaimer, I worked for the City of Wasilla as a Parks Temp this summer. My primary responsibility was taking care of the city's flowers, so my plant-care needs were covered. Plus, this growing season was poor (like last year), so there wasn't much effort to put in to make improvements. There won't be much for the results of this garden; I got one okay-sized zucchini, lots of herbs, and some small tomatoes.
The Greenhouse
To start off, like I said: Mini greenhouse! It's a screwed together wooden frame covered in oil-based paint and the whole thing wrapped in plastic. Two metal handles, two caster wheels, and two 3D printed feet make the whole thing easy to move around. A 3D printed drain-bolt allows rain water to be redirected outside, or even straight into the plants in the greenhouse. It works well at keeping things hot and humid!
Here's my garden in its early stages! I didn't end up taking any pictures of the garden after this one, and it has since frozen. Like I said before, nothing crazy this year. I grew thyme, rosemary, oregano, cilantro, lettuce (two kinds), spinach, chamomile, tomatoes, zucchini, spaghetti squash (didn't grow in time), cucumbers (didn't grow in time), buckwheat, bell peppers, carolina reaper peppers, and probably some others! Some things got taken out or added in later, so the photograph may not show them all.
